I've just come across this webpage about 'Knit the City'. They are a bunch of crazy knitters in London and Germany. They do little projects, in September they were allowed in the Tate Britian and put little knitted tubes of paint, paint brushes and other pieces on the pillars in the Tate. Gutted I missed out! Also they are attaching knitted bears onto ballons and letting them free, they have knitted squids and hung them on trees in Berlin. It just sounds amazing and I'd love to have a go, it really inspires you when you see other crazy peolpe doing it also!!! YAY!! Here is the link to the webpage (they have a blog also)
